Who we are
We are the Latin American Coalition, a nonprofit organization based in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Since 1990, we have worked to ensure that Latino and immigrant communities can integrate, grow, and participate fully in the social, economic, and civic life of our region.
We walk alongside families, youth, and individuals at every stage of their journey, creating spaces where belonging turns into opportunity and support becomes a pathway to the future.
Our story at a glance
The Beginning
Latin American families in Charlotte come together to preserve their culture, support one another, and build community.
From these gatherings, the Coalition is born, with a clear purpose: to support the Latino community through integration and belonging.
1990
Service Expansion
We expand our impact by developing programs in education, workforce development, legal services, and family wellness, creating real pathways to stability.
2000
Our CEO
In January of 2016, Jose Hernandez Paris takes on the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Latin American Coalition.
2016
Official Home
The Coalition officially buys the building from which they operate from on Central Avenue with support from PNC Bank.

With more than 35 years of history, we remain a place where people find support, build opportunity, and create legacy.

The Latin American Coalition is a community of Hispanics, immigrants, and allies that promotes the full and equal participation of all people in the civic, economic, and cultural life of North Carolina through integration, education, celebration, and advocacy.
