The Youth Education Center (YEC) empowers students by providing access to mentors, professional development, and community engagement opportunities that foster academic achievement and support lifelong success. In addition to supporting students, YEC also works with families by connecting them to resources and guidance that help them better support their children’s educational journeys.
Our Programs and Opportunities
A culturally sensitive mentoring program designed for students between 13 and 19 years of age. The program fosters strong mentoring relationships and promotes academic and personal growth.
GANAS offers two active programs each semester:
- Garinger High School with 9th Grade ML (Multilingual) students
- Thursdays at 6pm at our office with students 13-19 with family participation as an essential part of the collective work
Mentoring Program
Junior and senior high school students can receive personalized support to explore college options. Services include assistance with the FAFSA, scholarships, applications, and internship opportunities.
Participants gain hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector through an internship program, making significant contributions to the local Hispanic/Latino community. The program is offered every semester for university students. During the summer, high school students can participate through MYEP.
Internships
Summer Experiences
The summer program offers opportunities to explore careers, arts, and local experiences. Participants develop leadership skills, try new activities, and forge friendships through interactive experiences, trips, and excursions.
Girl Scout Troop 03 is open to aspiring leaders from kindergarten through sixth grade. Affiliated with the Girl Scouts Hornets’ Nest Council, Troop 3 focuses on developing confidence and leadership skills.
Meetings are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
